Welcome to SS Saddlery, for those that don’t know me personally my name is Sue Schreuder.
I started this ‘little bespoke’ business 7 years ago at the request of family and friends for whom I’d made Halters and bridles for 20 years previously as a hobby. In 2011 in took a leap of faith and started making these high quality, long lasting products for the discerning Australian horse person once again. SS Saddlery now has customers in New Zealand, the UK, USA and Singapore.
I personally make each piece from scratch to your requirements and take pride in the finished product knowing it’s constructed with the highest quality brass or stainless steel fittings and beautiful Australian Made PVC strapping in 26 colors specifically produced to withstand our extreme weather conditions.
SS Saddlery doesn’t do a budget range purely for safety and economical reasons. Being around these magnificent animals is dangerous and costly enough without gear breaking and the consequences of that happening.
I’ve had a lifetime in the racing industry, from stablehand to trainer and also been through the pony club system with my daughter from age 4 to 21 and have seen a lot of avoidable accidents in that time. So therefore I won’t compromise on quality of workmanship or materials.
I custom make all sizes for all breeds from foal to fully grown. Off the rack standard sizing doesn’t cater for the different shaped heads of the many breeds we have here in Australia.
